Commission:

I accept commission work for portraits of people because people are my favourite subject. All commissioned paintings will come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Please review the following terms and conditions for commission work and contact me using the “CONTACT” tab.

Requirements:

I paint in a realistic style; therefore, I will need high resolution reference photographs for all commissioned work. For portraits, please provide at least 4 to 5 photos (high resolution digital images) so that I get a complete and detailed sense of the subject. If I feel that the reference photos provided are not suitable or sufficient, I may ask for more photographs. If necessary, I can travel to the patron's site (within Vancouver) to shoot more reference images. Please ensure that any photos used belong to you, and that any other images you provide are not breaking copywrite laws.

Materials used:
I use oil paints on double primed canvas for my commissioned works. I use only artist grade oil paints from reputable brands like Gamblin, Stevenson and Winsor & Newton. The finished painting will be varnished for protection and attached to a board, making it ready for framing.

Price:

The minimum size of a commissioned painting is 12 inches by 12 inches and the maximum size is 36 inches by 36 inches. The price of the commission is calculated based on the size and complexity of the painting. The price is in Canadian dollars.
For a simple painting with one person, the price is $7.50 per square inch. For more than one subject, the price will increase by 50% per square inch for each extra figure. For example, a 36 inch by 24 inch painting will cost $ 6480.00; a 24 inch by 18 inch painting will cost $3240.00. Packaging and shipping are free worldwide for all commissioned works.

Time requirements:

The time requirements may vary between one to three months depending upon my availability.

Payment:

I require a 20% non-refundable deposit before I begin to paint. The remaining 80% payment is due when I am ready to ship the painting. Throughout the process of making the painting, I will keep you updated and ask for any suggestions to make sure that you are completely satisfied with my work. The painting will be shipped to you when you are satisfied with the finished work. If you cancel the commission during the process, I will own all rights to use the painting for my own commercial purposes. I accept payment by cheque, cash, or INTERAC e-transfer.

Ownership:
You will have complete rights to the original painting. However, I will have the right to make digital or Giclee prints of commissioned work. I may use the photo of the painting on my website for commercial purposes. The painting will have my signature stamp on it (left or right bottom side) and overwriting or hiding it in any way will be a copyright violation for both the original work and any prints.

Packaging and shipping:
The oil painting will be safely packed in a heavy-duty cardboard box with a certificate of authenticity and an invoice for the commission. I can also provide a framing option for a reasonable price; please contact me for any framing related questions. I recognize that all paintings I create represent me and my skill. Therefore, I will ensure that you are completely satisfied with my work.

Certificate of Authenticity:

All original paintings and Giclee prints come with a certificate which confirms that the painting you have purchased is authentic. Each painting is signed by me and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity which contains details specific to that painting. This certificate will be important if you decide to sell the painting in the future.
